Diverging branches composed of bright yellow flower covered wands atop sturdy stems from August to September, lower leaves up to 4 inch long are..well..elm-leaf shaped, spreads by seed and rhizomes, forms colonies, salt tolerant, adapted to sandy or gravelly soil, attracts native and honey bees as well as many types of beneficial insects, some songbirds feast on the seeds.
