Northern Blue-eyed Grass Picture

An unusual and delicate flower in the Iris family, this Blue-eyed grass bears 1-5 steel-blue flowers with tiny yellow centers at the end of each leaf-like stem from May through July, leaves are stout and grass-like - less than 1/4 inch wide and up to 1 foot long, the plant has a loosely tufted appearance created by 'fans' of leaves, nectar and pollen source for native bees, makes a neat ground cover, spreads by seed.
