A large shrub or small rounded tree, clusters of powerfully fragrant small white flowers smell like honeysuckle in May and June, attractive hanging clusters of pale round wafer-like winged seeds turn brown &and persist through the winter, shiny aromatic 'hop-scented' trifoliate leaves, tolerant of rocky or sandy soil, drought tolerant, attracts pollinators, host plant for the Giant Swallowtail Butterfly (Papilio cresphontes).
