Large-leaved Aster Picture

Lovely 1 inch wide light blue/lavender white asters with narrow petals and yellow (aging to red/brown) centers from August through October, large (8 inch by 6 inch) basal leaves form a beautiful groundcover in spring and early summer but these leaves decline as flowering stems shoot up in late summer, upper leaves have winged petioles and are somewhat small, spreads by rhizomes and seed to form dense carpets, attracts butterflies & bees, host plant for Silvery Checkerspot (Chlosyne nycteis) and Pearl Crescent (Phyciodes tharos).
