Large fragrant showy daisy-like flowers on long stems with swept-back reddish purple rays surrounding copper colored centers from June through October, coarse leaves up to 6" long, attracts butterflies & hummingbirds, host plant for Silvery Checkerspot (Chlosyne nycteis) as well as several moths, birds love (!) the seed heads, heat & drought tolerant, salt tolerant, good rain garden plant.
