Blue 3-6" long spikes of small flowers attract Butterflies from June through September, attracts Bees & Hummingbirds as well, leaves are slightly downy and whitish on the underside, foliage is fragrant when crushed and smells of anise, tolerant of acid soil, drought resistant, spreads by seed.
