Yellow ½” flowers in April & May betray this plant into showing that is it NOT a true strawberry, evergreen foliage is attractive & very strawberry-like, fruit dry & one-seeded, spreads slowly by rhizomes to form a really nice groundcover, average to moist soil, sun to shade, 6" tall.

Native range: New Brunswick, sw. Quebec & Ontario, south through ne. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, & the NE US to n. Alabama & Georgia, with scattered populations in Illinois, Arkansas & Missouri. Rare in CT, IL, IN, ME, MA & NH
