Downy Yellow Violet (Hairy form) |
|
This subspecies originally volunteered in pots I purchased from a Wildflower preserve in Buck’s County PA. Amazing yellow flowers from March to June, distinctive due to the downy (hairy?) leaves that are very attractive & broadly heart-shaped – almost rounded – up to 4” wide, seeds in easily, small cut flowers.
6-12" tall
Plant Hardiness Zones: 3b-8b
Perennial
Native Range: ME west through s. Canada to e. ND, south to n. AL & scattered localities in TX. Rare in RI
