Wonderfully fragrant 2" wide gentle pink flowers from June through July, late summer produces bright red rose hips (enjoyed by Blue Birds!), slender stems branch freely & are adorned with thorns (of course!), leaves with 3 to 7 leaflets turn red & gold in fall, takes more shade than most roses, attracts butterflies, moderately salt tolerant, disease resistant, good rain garden plant, NY state flower, forms colonies slowly by suckers.
