This plant is quite similar to Winged Monkey Flower (Mimulus alatus), but it is less rare, its lavender flowers are produced on long stalks, & it's native range is larger, found in marshes, bogs, stream banks & wet meadows, food plant for Common Buckeye Butterfly caterpillars (Junonia coenia), spreads by rhizomes & seed.
