A simply elegant herbaceous twining vine with fantastic pleated glossy heart-shaped leaves, the small greenish-yellow flowers (April through July) are largely inconspicuous but give way to interesting 3-sided seed capsules which turn brown & dangle from female vines in late summer, tuberous roots spread to form colonies over time, leaves turn bright yellow in autumn, tolerates poor soil.
