Heart-leaved Aster |
|
Clouds of small (> ½ in) pale blue-violet flowers with centers changing from white to deep red from August through October, broadly heart-shaped 2-6" deep green leaves come tinged with red in the spring – one of the most attractive aster foliages (in my opinion), excellent very late season nectar source that attracts butterflies & bees, beautiful cut flowers.
2-5’ tall
Plant Hardiness Zones: 5a-8b
Perennial
Other names: Blue Wood Aster (formerly Aster cordifolius)
Native Range: NB, s. QC & ON, south to AR & the FL panhandle
