A graceful plant with red-spurred drooping bell-like flowers with yellow centers from spring through early summer, deeply cut foliage comes up early in the spring & varies over the season from blue-green to maroon, easy to grow, self seeds readily (but not annoyingly!), attracts hummingbirds (one of the first important hummingbird nectar plants in the early spring!), food plant for Columbine Dusky Wing Butterfly caterpillars (Erynnis lucilius), interesting cut flower.
