Spotted St. Johnswort

Pretty 1/2 inch yellow flowers adorn this multistemmed plant from June through September, smooth oblong leaves up to 2.5 inch long develop red highlights with age, grows well in poor soil, clay & gravel tolerant, flowers produce an abundance of pollen which is enjoyed by any number of bee species, food plant for Gray Hairstreak Butterfly (Strymon melinus) and Gray Half-spot Moth (Nedra ramosula) caterpillars.
