Found along wood's edges in upland woods, this unusual milkweed has large, loose heads of interesting, bi-colored white or pink and green flowers in June and July. Nectar attracts butterflies ans other native pollinators, erect seedpods up to 6 inch in length persist into the fall and split to release wind-distributed seeds with feathery parachutes. Food plant for Monarch & Queen Butterfly Monarch & Queen Butterfly caterpillars (Danaus plexippus & D. gilippus).
